Seoul Auction is Korea's oldest and leading auction house, holding at least one major auction per quarter. Seoul Auction, founded in 1998, has multi-purpose auction spaces based on a design by world-famous French architect Jean Michell Wilmotte and comprising auction salesrooms, galleries and warehouses for art work.
During the past decade that Seoul Auction has been developing and leading the Korean art market, more than a hundred auctions have been held and sales volume in 2007 has tripled compared with the previous year, reaching US$96.4 million.
In 2008, which is its 10th anniversary, Seoul Auction has been listed in KOSDAQ (Korean Securities Dealers' Automated Quotation) and successfully held inaugural Hong Kong Sale, realizing HK$180 million. Occupying the majority of market share in Korean Art Auction market, 58.4 %, and gaining a foothold in Hong Kong, Seoul Auction will continue to grow to be the Asian Art Market leader. |

| Artists |
| As an auction house, Seoul Auction does not represent specific groups of artists. However, as Korea's oldest and leading auction house, art works by well-known artists, pursued by international collectors such as Kyoung-Tack Hong, Tschang-Yeul Kim, UFan Lee, Dong-Yoo Kim, So-Young Choi, etc, can be easily found amongst Seoul Auction's sales. Seoul Auction also offers art works by Western modern and contemporary artists as well as other Asian contemporary artists. Seoul Auction's strong sourcing power is due to its close and long-term relationships with collectors and artists. This made it possible for Seoul Auction to set the Korean Auction record by Korean artist PARK SOOKEUN's The Wash Place sold for $4,766,000 in May 2007. |

| Art AuctionSHOW |
Art AuctionSHOW is a project of an art exhibition and auction that Seoul Auction presents annually. The 1st Art AuctionSHOW was held from September 12 to 16, 2007 under the auspices of Seoul Auction, COEX, and SBS Production, dedicated to promoting 'revitalization of the domestic art market', 'international artistic exchanges', 'popularization of the auction culture' and 'diversification of the distribution structure for artworks'.
The 2007 Art AuctionSHOW was composed of auction programs like "Seoul Auction 108th Auction PartⅠand Part Ⅱ", "Contemporary Art Auction", "White Sale(Charity Auction)", special exhibitions such as "Park SooKeun, Undisclosed Work", "Korean Contemporary Artists Zone", "International Art Exhibition", and "Korean Antique", and other lectures and events. With the participation of the large international auction houses such as Sotheby's (UK), Shinwa Art Auction (Japan), Est-Ouest Auction (Japan), Art Masters (Japan), Poly Auction (China), and Council Auction (China), the Art AuctionSHOW served as a new hub of international art auction.
The 2007 Art AuctionSHOW was a great success with some 12,000 visitors generating approximately US$ 38.7 million (KRW 36 billion), value of sold art pieces.
The 2009 Art AuctionSHOW will be held during the 3rd week of December at COEX, Seoul. |
